My wife Jan and I
lived in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico, for six years, writing and cruising the
Sea of Cortez aboard our 32' sailboat, Hunter Star. While we are currently
living back in the Seattle, WA. area, we have many dear friends in La Paz,
and we return to the Baja peninsula as often as possible. Baja Mexico is
one of those places that gets in your blood, and when you're not there you
are always longing to return. For most of my adult life I've been a sailor and a motorcyclist, and more recently a paraglider pilot. What they all have in common is the wind; an invisible force that can either oppose us or drive us on. Tuesday, February 8, 2005, Murdoch attended a reading and book signing at the Ciao Italia Restaurant in La Paz, Baja California Sur (the home of Murder in La Paz.) The event was very well attended and the book recieved with enthusiasm. It is always great to own a novel that takes place in your "home town." Murder in La Paz by Murdoch Hughes won the 2004 EPPI AWARD for BEST MYSTERY! EPPI's are awarded annually to recognize outstanding achievement in electronic publishing. The author received his award at the EPIC Convention which took place March 12, 2005 in Long Beach, California aboard the Queen Mary. Each category is judged by published authors and publishing professionals. After the first round of judging, the works of the finalists were sent to another panel of judges to select the winners. Saturday, April 23, 2005, Murdoch will be attending a Baja Authors book signing and wine tasting at the Pyramid Resort, La Mision, Baja California (about 35 miles south of San Diego, CA). |
